The eleventh day of the Olympics was no less productive for the Russian team than the previous one. Russian athletes won six medals, three of them gold. In the overall medal standings, Russia rose to fifth place.

Gold was brought to the men's springboard diving at a height of 3 meters. The winner, Ilya Zakharov, won the Games' first gold in diving since 2000. “I didn’t pay attention to anything until the last jump. Then I slowly began to understand that these were the Olympic Games and first place. Everything was boiling in my soul,” the 21-year-old athlete commented on his victory.

The second gold for Russia was brought by a duet of synchronized swimmers - Natalya Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina. The athletes who were in the lead after qualifying scored a total of 197.100 points and broke away from Spanish synchronized swimmers Ona Carbonel Ballestero and Andrea Fuentes Face, who scored 192.900 points. The Chinese won bronze.

Track and field athlete Ivan Ukhov became first in the high jump, and Beijing 2008 Olympic champion Andrei Silnov took only 12th place. Wrestler Rustam Totrov brought silver to our team’s treasury. The Greco-Roman wrestler in the weight category up to 96 kg lost to the Iranian Rezaei Ghasem with a score of 0-3 in the decisive match. After the competition, the athlete admitted that he planned to win gold, but silver, in his opinion, is also a worthy reward. “I hope that my success will become a new motivation for the guys who will become more involved in Greco-Roman wrestling in the republic,” said Totrov, who lives in Vladikavkaz. Totrov's medal was the fifth in London for our Greco-Roman wrestling team. Two gold medals were won by Roman Vlasov (up to 74 kg) and Alan Khugaev (up to 84 kg), two bronze medals by Mingiyan Semenov (up to 55 kg) and Zaur Kuramagomedov (up to 60 kg), and silver by Rustam Totrov. .

Another medal, but this time bronze, was won on August 7 by 17-year-old gymnast Aliya Mustafina in floor exercises. American Alexandra Raisman won the competition, and Romanian Catanila Ponor won silver.

Another Russian gymnast, Ksenia Afanasyeva, took only sixth place in floor exercises. And in exercises on the balance beam - fifth. The bronze medal was won by the weightlifting competition. Ruslan Albegov, a weightlifter in the weight category over 105 kg, lifted 208 kg in the snatch and 240 kg in the clean and jerk. Heavyweights from Iran won gold and silver. Behdad Salimicordasiabi showed a total of 455 kg, and Sajjad Anushiravani Khamblabad - 449, “overtaking” our athlete by only one kilogram.
