Defenders beyond the line

These days, the courts are deciding on administrative cases of the most active defenders of Pussy Riot - for them, the "judicial festival" will continue in the detention center on Simferopol Boulevard. During the hearings, one could only get to the Khamovniki Court through a police cordon. 7th Rostov Lane was blocked. The police searched the bags, they tried not to let people with posters and symbols into the courthouse. Despite this, Pussy Riot's defenders carried posters or blank sheets of paper on which they wrote slogans, having already passed through the cordon.

Representatives of the "outraged public" from the movements "For Morality" and "Georgiyevtsy" also came to court. They did not show aggression, they also stood in single pickets where the police allowed them to stand.

From time to time defense lawyers came out of the court for a briefing. The crowd greeted them with applause. Toward evening, when the trial ended and the girls were to be taken to the pre-trial detention center, up to a hundred Pussy Riot defenders gathered at the court. The police put up an additional cordon to keep the protesters as far as possible from the patio, where the girls were put into a paddy wagon or a police gazelle. People chanted "Freedom!" and "Well done!".
