Nadezhda Torlopova defeated Chinese Li Jinji and reached the final of the Olympic women's boxing tournament in the weight category up to 75 kg. Torlopova will fight with Clarissa Shields from the USA.

Sofia Ochigava reached the finals in the women's boxing competition in the up to 60 kg weight category. Ochigawa defeated Brazilian Adriana Araujo with a score of 17:11. Ochigawa will face Ireland's Katie Taylor for gold.
Russian athlete Evgenia Poistogova came second in the 800-meter race and reached the semifinals.
Tatyana Lysenko, the current world champion in the hammer throw, reached the final of the track and field athletics tournament on her first attempt - she threw the projectile at 74.43 m. At the same time, the Olympic standard is 73.00 m.
Ilya Shkurenev, after 18th place in running, showed 13th result in jumping (7.25) and rose to 16th place in the decathlon.

Russian Andrei Zamkovoy reached the 1/2 finals of the Olympic boxing tournament in the weight category up to 69 kg. Zamkovoy defeated American Eroll Spence with a score of 16:11 (4:3, 5:4, 7:4).
