Cossacks went riding to Paris

The Cossack horse campaign in honor of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812 on Sunday, August 12, went to Paris from the Poklonnaya Mountain, RIA Novosti reports. 23 Don horsemen repeat the route of Ataman Matvey Platov, having passed more than three thousand kilometers. Cossacks have to overcome five borders. The campaign will end in late October or early November in the French Fontteblo.

The Don Cossacks stood on a campaign in the uniforms that their ancestors wore during the Patriotic War of 1812. Along the way, the Cossacks will take part in theatrical festivals. For the campaign, Don horses were specially selected, which at the beginning of the 19th century were displayed for long crossings. Now this breed is considered dying. The funds raised during the campaign will go to the revival of the breed.
