Olympics. Day 15

On the 15th day of the Olympic Games, the Russian team won 6 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals. By the last day of the competition, the Russian Olympic team had won a total of 78 medals, of which 21 were gold, 25 silver and 32 bronze. In the overall medal standings, Russia firmly holds 4th place - after Great Britain, China and the USA.

Athlete Sergei Kirdyapkin, two-time world champion in 2005 and 2009, took gold in one of the most difficult disciplines - race walking over a distance of 50 km, and set a new Olympic record along the way - 3 hours 35 minutes 59 seconds.

Russian athletes are not far behind Kirdyapkin - twenty-year-old Elena Lashmanova took gold in the 20 km distance, becoming the youngest winner at this distance among women in the entire history of the Olympic Games. Three-time world champion Olga Kaniskina, who competed with an injury, became a silver medalist.

The double kayak with rowers Alexander Dyachenko and Yuri Postrigai also brought gold to the Olympic team. In rowing, they also expected gold from single canoeist Ivan Shtyl, who showed the best time in the semifinals. However, he finished third and won bronze.

Russians Evgenia Kanaeva and Daria Dmitrieva won gold and silver medals in the individual championship in rhythmic gymnastics. 22-year-old Evgenia Kanaeva thus became a two-time Olympic champion.

The women's team consisting of Antonina Krivoshapka, Tatyana Firova, Natalya Antyukh and Yulia Gushchina took silver in the 4x400 m relay.

Athlete Anna Chicherova, the current world champion in high jump, cleared a height of 2 m 05 cm on her second attempt and won the gold medal. Another Russian, Svetlana Shkolina, won the bronze medal.

Maria Savinova became the Olympic champion in the 800 m distance. Another Russian athlete, Ekaterina Poistogova, won bronze in the same discipline.

25-year-old Russian wrestler Besik Kudukhov lost to Azerbaijani athlete Togrul Asgarov in the fight for Olympic gold in the up to 60 kg category, becoming a silver medalist.

"Wollist" Bilyal Makhov won bronze in the category up to 120 kg, beating Kazakh athlete Daulet Shabanbai.

Two Russians became bronze medalists in boxing - Egor Mekhontsev, in the up to 81 kg category, and Andrey Zamkovoy, in the up to 69 kg category.
