Ilya Farber
On Friday, the Tver Regional Court handed down a verdict in the case of Ilya Farber. The court sentenced him to eight years in prison in a maximum security colony and awarded him a fine of 3,200,000 rubles.
Moscow artist Ilya Farber moved with his family to the Tver region in the summer of 2010, got a job as a teacher of fine arts, literature and music at a school in the village of Moshenka. At the request of the administration, he became involved in the local rural club. Repairs were underway there, but the contractor was in no hurry to fulfill his obligations. Farber partially invested his own money into the repairs, and after the work was completed, he demanded that the general director of the Gorstroy-1 company, Yuri Gorokhov, repay the debt. While transferring the money, Farber was detained by FSB officers, he was charged with extortion, and then with causing damage to the local House of Culture in the amount of 940,000 rubles.
