Hi all!
The fact that in the end the girls still received real sentences is bad. Even very bad. Once again, the letter of the law is being neglected in favor of political expediency. It is clear that this is not so much a verdict as a response to all this hysteria in the worldwide format. But there would be no hysteria if it weren’t for these months of imprisonment. A strategic mistake was made. Which again has a terrible impact on the authority of the judicial system. And what will have the worst consequences as a result is unknown.
We don’t know who and where ultimately made the final decision - in the Kremlin, in the Patriarchate? Hardly the judge herself. But for us this is bad in any case. We live here, and not behind the Kremlin walls. And the supremacy of the law over any—I emphasize, any, political or corporate—interests is the only thing that can ensure a normal future for the country.
