
From the floating starting platform of the Odyssey from the equatorial part of the Pacific Ocean, the Russian-Ukrainian missile Zenit-3SL with the American telecommunications satellite IntelSat 21 started, Interfax reports.
The launch site is the Pacific Aquator at the point with the coordinates 0 ° 00 ′ p. 154 ° 00 ′ s. d., near the island of Christmas. The marine segment of the Sea Start complex consists of two sea vessels: the Odyssey launch platform and the assembly-command vessel.
Thus, this start became the second this year as part of the Marine Start program.
The missile was removed by the DM-SL accelerated block in conjunction with the American telecommunications satellite IntelSat 21 on the Suborbital flight trajectory. DM-SL will work for about 12 minutes. And the Department of the IntelSat 21 spacecraft from the "Accelerator" is scheduled for 11.26 Moscow time. Intelsat 21 will replace the IntelSat 9 device and will serve direct satellite and cable television operators.
On August 17, the start of Zenit was postponed due to the detected malfunction along the line of ground technological equipment of the spacecraft.
The international consortium "Marine Start" was created in 1995. The headquarters - the company's apartment is located in the city of Bern. Currently, the Russian RSC "Energia" named after Korolev is controlled.
