Picket for "Mom's Choice"

A new protest is brewing in Perm. On August 23, a picket will be held near the building of the Legislative Assembly against the closure of the “Mom’s Choice” program.

Recently, the regional authorities announced the closure of the Mom's Choice program, which had existed for many years. This program practically eliminated queues for kindergartens in Perm and the region through compensation (about 6 thousand rubles per child per month) that were given to mothers in exchange for refusing to place their child in kindergartens. As a result, a boom in “family education” began in Perm. Thousands of families, including young ones, used the program every year.

However, the Administration of Viktor Basargin decided to rely on the construction of kindergartens to the detriment of the “Mom’s Choice” program; for this purpose, funding for the program is planned to be transferred to the municipalities, which actually threatens its closure. Because at the same time the municipalities were burdened with the construction of new gardens.

Dissatisfied mothers and members of the public united in the group Russia is us. Perm for mother's choice. Having not received any clear comments from the Administration, they applied for a picket. At the same time, a resolution is currently being prepared demanding that the possibility of choosing between kindergartens and “mother’s choice” be preserved for all families, as well as a number of other requirements for preschool education.
