Andrey Sheiko headed Olympia-Perm

The regional authorities have decided on the head of the largest water complex in Perm - Olympia-Perm. In the recent past, he became the Ural Great player and head of the Perm Territory Basketball Federation Andrei Sheiko. Sports Minister Pavel Lyakh believes that the main task of the new general director will be to complete the construction of the third stage of the sports complex.

As the region's Minister of Property Relations Andrei Shagap told Kommersant, Andrei Sheiko, a former famous basketball player and head of the region's basketball federation, has been appointed the new general director of Olympia-Perm LLC. According to him, the decision was made by the founders - the regional government and the administration of Perm. Mr. Sheiko confirmed to Kommersant that he headed the sports complex. “I have been given the task of working for the benefit of Prikamsk sports,” explained Andrei Sheiko. The head of the Ministry of Sports, Pavel Lyakh, explained that the main task of the new leader will be the construction of the third stage of the sports complex. According to Mr. Lyakh, he knows Mr. Sheiko only from the positive side and is confident that he will be a good leader.

It should be noted that Mr. Sheiko has managerial experience - the federation he heads became one of the initiators of the creation of a new professional basketball team in the Kama region: the Parma club will begin playing in the Major Basketball League this season.

Olympia-Perm LLC was founded in 2002 by the administrations of the Kama region and Perm on the basis of the unfinished sports complex of OJSC NK LUKOIL. Shares in Olympia are divided between city and regional authorities in the ratio of 21.4 and 78.6%, respectively. Construction of the first stage of Olympia was completed in the fall of 2005. In the premises of the third stage it is planned to place a health complex or a warm-up pool with four to six lanes.

It is worth noting that for several years the regional government unsuccessfully searched for a company to which the facility could be transferred for management. In the fall of 2009, it was announced that the sports complex would be transferred to the management of the German company Deyle Management GmbH for at least ten years. However, at the end of last year, the regional government “rejected” the proposal of the German bureau Deyle GmbH to develop a sports complex. At the same time, information appeared that the regional authorities had changed their minds about developing Olympia and decided to sell it in order to use the proceeds to build several smaller swimming pools. But later it was decided to abandon this idea.

The owners of the sports complex decided not to renew the contract with the previous director of Olympia-Perm, Oleg Kataev, as they recognized the results of his work as unsatisfactory. Thus, Mr. Kataev was accused of not fulfilling the instructions of the meeting of LLC participants to register ownership of the site under the sports complex with an area of 23.3 thousand square meters. m without shared ownership with Ural FD Bank.

As for Andrei Sheiko, he is known to the public primarily as a professional basketball player.

As a member of the Perm team “Ural-Great”, Mr. Sheiko became the champion of Russia twice, in 2001 and 2002. Later he played for CSKA Moscow, Avtodor Saratov and Dynamo Moscow Region. He finished his career as a professional player in 2005 as a member of the Triumph team (Lyubertsy). In 2010, he headed the Perm Territory Basketball Federation.

Former acting Director Pavel Maltsev said yesterday that he has a positive attitude towards the appointment of Mr. Sheiko and does not see any problems in the fact that he comes from a “non-core” sport for Olympia. Mr. Maltsev did not rule out that he would remain working at the sports complex in his previous position as director of sports activities.

The regional swimming federation could not comment on the appointment of the former basketball player. “I don’t know him, we’ll work,” the head of the federation Mikhail Markin told Kommersant. “It would be wise if they decide to keep Pavel Maltsev in the sports complex team.”
