On August 21, the Investigative Committee announced the separation of the criminal cases against Maxim Luzyanin and Mikhail Kosenko into a separate proceeding from the main case, this is being done, as indicated in the official statement of the Investigative Committee, in order to complete the preliminary investigation as soon as possible. In fact, the need to single out these particular cases is due to other reasons. Luzyanin almost immediately pleaded guilty to both articles of indictment - both 318 (violence against a representative of the authorities) and 212 (riots). Recognizing oneself guilty of participating in mass riots will allow the court not to trouble itself with evidence of the existence of these same "mass riots" on Bolotnaya Square. And then it's easier - prejudice comes into force - the obligation of the courts to accept, without verification and evidence, the facts established by another court. Thus, Article 212 will automatically be proved for all the other defendants.
