The Leninsky District Court of Cheboksary (Chuvashia) found the former Minister of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of Chuvashia Anatoly Nikolaev guilty of abuse of power and fined him 200 thousand rubles, Oleg Dmitriev, senior assistant to the head of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Republic, told the Interfax-Povolzhye agency .
The court also found the former director of the Spartak Children's and Youth Sports School (CYSSH) Innokenty Koshkin guilty of abuse of power and fined him 50 thousand rubles, Dmitriev said.
Both officials were involved in the case of causing damage of more than 1.64 million rubles to the Spartak Youth Sports School as a result of the Ministry’s improper financing of sports competitions and federal-level training camps on the basis of the Youth Sports School. For two episodes of violation of the law when concluding government contracts, the criminal investigation against Nikolaev was terminated due to the refusal of the state prosecutor; for the third episode, Nikolaev was acquitted for lack of corpus delicti.
