The news was almost unnoticed the other day: on August 18, "His Holiness Patriarch Kirill bowed to the shrines of Bialystok." The title is deceptive: there are no many shrines in Bialystok, there is only one - the relics of the holy baby -martyr Gabriel. The Patriarch bowed to them, and at the same time it was a question of the "moral decline of the modern world." The name of Gabriel does not tell us anything, Bialystok has long been in Poland, but it is worth telling about the baby, because the picture opens up such that it takes a breath.
This history is the 17th century, Gabriel was born in a family of Orthodox peasants in the village near Biastok, and in 1690 he was killed at the age of six. The murder was accused of a neighboring Jew of the arbiter, who, according to investigators, abducted the child and took him to the Bialystok. There, "for nine days he subjected the boy to the ritual tortures that imitates the passions of Christ: he nailed by the arms and legs to the wall and pierced the side, thus releasing blood." Naturally, blood was added to Matsu, so about the degree of objectivity of the investigation and knowledge of Jewish rituals to them, everything is clear. Probably, it was precisely on these patterns that Bailis's work was reduced for more than two centuries later. But with a free press and civil society, which Beilis was repulsed, in the 17th century it was tight, the Polish predecessors of Bastrykin professionally glued a group case, and "criminals suffered a well -deserved punishment."
The boy was quietly buried. According to the later version, after 30 years, the coffin “accidentally” was damaged, buried another person, and supposedly found the body imperishable. The version is dubious, because even then the coffin was only transferred to the crypt of the local church, the question of canonization did not arise. The misfortunes of Gabriel did not end there: after some time, that church burned down, and the relics again moved - to the neighboring town of Blurry.
Probably, they would be there to this day, but, according to the site of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, "the influence of the union began to intensify in the region, and then in 1755 the relics were moved away to the east - to Slutsk. Slutsk remained the center of Orthodoxy, and he, apparently, had to desperately strengthen his authority of the uniats. The PR campaign was carried out according to the best canons: all 300 kilometers of power were carried by a procession, they hung a tablet on cancer, which reported that the “relics of the baby Gabriel ... tortured from the Jews in white stock,” Gabriel was canonized only in 1820 - then Slutsk had already become part of the Russian Empire and the expansion of Orthodoxy became as urgent state task as now.
Later, the remains of an unfortunate child traveled repeatedly to different cities and through state borders, they found themselves even in the museum, until they found a permanent refuge in Grodno under the wing of the Belarusian PC - a subsidiary of the ROC MP. There would be an end to the fairy tale, but in the early 1990s the situation of the centuries of the past was repeated in Eastern Poland - "the influence of the union" began to intensify, "not to mention Catholicism - and in the fight against the Vatican of the Russian Orthodox Church, as you know, I am ready to lie in bones. In this case, the bones decided to send to Poland, and in 1992 the relics of the poor Gabriel Patriarchate sent to the place of execution - to Bialystok. The delight of the Jewish community of Poland from such a gift to the city, in which 56 thousand Jews were killed during the war, is easy to imagine.
In fairness, it must be recalled that Gabriel was not the only Christian "saints" canonized on a bloody slander. However, the Catholic Church has long been deanonized all such "saints", because it is about the same decent to preserve them in the 21st century as to recommend the flock of enemies to eat. But the Russian Orthodox Church, as you know, lives in the prime of the Middle Ages and, as if nothing had happened, continues to celebrate the day of Gabriel's memory on April 20 (May 3). With the compulsory prayer "Gabriel Blessed, our country of adamante precious and Jewish wickedness to the accuser" and the condak "martyr Gabriel, also from the other beasts - Jews delighted."
So the Patriarch drove into Bialystok by chance. He probably well understands that the best place than that of the coffin of the baby, "tortured from the Jews", to pronounce speeches about the era "more and more noticeable anti -Christian trends" cannot be found. For all "anti -Christian trends" come, of course, from "aggressive liberalism", but whoever pays all these liberals and pulls them by the strings, everyone also knows. It is no coincidence that the cult of Gabriel Bialystok from year to year is mentioned as the fact of anti -Semitism in reports, of course, the US Congress.
Meanwhile, in Poland there is a place where thousands of Orthodox, deadly and martyrdom are buried, and this place is called Auschwitz. During the visits to Poland, the heads of state and religious leaders come there without fail, but Patriarch Kirill did not reach there. Perhaps because they lie there interspersed with thousands of those whom the ROC MP calls it by a good Orthodox tradition "frighty beasts."
But the point is not only in traditions. The "zoological" approach to the topic of bloody slander is not uncommon in the revelations of some clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church MP. So, commenting on the visit of the Patriarch, Protodiacon Andrei Kuraev directly explained that "to say that the Jew could not encroach on the boy, this smacks of a certain kind of racism" (?). The shepherd also recalls the shepherds - especially that part of it, which feeds from the state budget: in the message of the Russian television channel, it was said openly that "Gabriel was stolen from the house of Judea and taken to Bialystok, where he was brutally tortured." (And this hung on the official website of the Vesti program for several hours, until someone caught on.)
In conclusion, I ask you to consider this article to be a confession in the UK with a recognition of rackets and exciting hatred for groups of citizens "crooks that make money on human suffering" and "anti -Semites".
