Heavy rains with hail, thunderstorms and squally winds of up to 20 m/s are expected in Karachay-Cherkessia on Wednesday, warns the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region.
“On August 29, in the republic there remains the likelihood of an emergency of no higher than a municipal nature associated with flooding of low-lying and coastal areas, settlements caused by rain runoff, as well as damage to supports and breakage of power lines, damage to the roof of light buildings and the fall of tree branches,” he said to the Interfax-South agency, an employee of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the Karachay-Cherkess Republic.
Also, according to him, due to deteriorating weather conditions, disruptions in the operation of transport, road and utility services, and disruptions in the operation of drainage and collector systems are possible. “We ask citizens to be extremely attentive to radio and television messages from representatives of local government bodies, and also strictly follow their recommendations,” said a representative of the department.
