The Russian pavilion for the first time in the history of the International Architectural Biennale in Venice was awarded award - the exposition received a jury prize, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the Skolkovo Foundation.
This year, Russia at the XIII International Architectural Biennale, which, under the motto "General Earth" (Common Ground) was opened on Wednesday in Venice, represents the I-CITI/I-LAND project, dedicated to Russian science-hats-from closed cities of the Soviet period to the Skolkovo innovation center created today.
“We are satisfied with the result of the work done and hope for further successful participation in architectural competitions of such a high level,” the commentary of the President of the Skolkovo Foundation Viktor Vekselberg is given in the message.
As stated in the materials of the fund, a concept showing urban planning and architectural developments in a new digital format was chosen for the exposition of the Skolkovo project.
Pavilion Commissioner Grigory Revzin, whose words are also given in a press release, thanked the curator of the pavilion Sergey Choban and the author of the idea of using QR codes in this exhibition of Konstantin Chernozatonsky for a successfully implemented project.
Venetian Biennale has been held since 1895. The architectural exhibition has been held since 1980, alternating with the Biennale of Modern Art. According to the press service of the Skolkovo Foundation, 103 participants and 58 projects will take part in the XIII International Architectural Biennale in Venice.
According to the fund, the exhibition traditionally occupies the covered areas of the arsenal and the open area of Jardini gardens. The construction of the complex began with the construction of one pavilion by the Venetians, which was provided to different countries who want to demonstrate their exhibitions in Venice.
"Later, England, Belgium, Hungary, Germany, Holland and France built their pavilions in the park. And only then reached Russia, which allowed our country to create a pavilion recognized by the most beautiful experts in Giardino Publico. The Russian pavilion was designed by the architect Aleksey Schushev in the Venetian Biennale 1914, ”the press release says.
