Lev Ossovsky died, for 25 years heading the Pokrovsky Theater Orchestra

People's Artist of the RSFSR, laureate of the State Prize of Russia, Professor Lev Ossovsky suddenly died on August 31 at 91 years of life, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the Pokrovsky Music Theater, where Ossovsky was the main conductor and director for 25 years.

During this time, along with the artistic director of the theater, Boris Pokrovsky, they delivered operas, including the Golden Calf Khrennikov, "Don Juan, or the punished lecher of Mozart," Sorochinsky Fair "by Mussorgsky. Many performances are still preserved in the repertoire of the theater.

Lev Moiseevich Ossovsky was an academician of the International Academy of Musical Theater in Paris. He was awarded four orders: the Great Patriotic War, Friendship, for merits to the Fatherland of the III degree, the Holy Alexander of Nevsky I degree and the twelve medals of the Great Patriotic War.

Farewell to Ossovsky will take place on September 3 from 11:00 to 12:00 in the lobby of the Chamber Theater. The funeral will be held at the Vostryakovsky cemetery.
