In Chelyabinsk, on the embankment of the Miass River, the opening of the Rock Garden will take place on September 7, reports the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Chelyabinsk Region.
The idea of such a garden arose several years ago after the construction of a new building for the local history museum on the embankment of the Miass River. However, work began only this spring, when the first stone of the future exposition was laid. Throughout the summer, landscaping of the garden area continued, as a result of which an open exhibition appeared next to the local history museum, the report says.
The basis of the exhibition was made up of stones that were moved from the park near the Sports Palace. To these were added more than 60 rock samples brought from different parts of the region - from the Uzelginsky, Ufaleysky, Rezhsky, Satkinskoye deposits and the Uchalinskaya mine.
Some of the exhibits were donated by the enterprises Koelgamramor, Magnezit, Vishnegorsky Mining and Processing Plant, and Ilmensky Nature Reserve.
In addition, samples of minerals that glorified the Southern Urals are collected here.
“First of all, it is marble of various shades and the famous Ural jasper, which decorates the interiors of many buildings in our country, including the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Hermitage, palace ensembles of Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Moscow metro. In addition, in the Rock Garden there is a mountain rock containing gold,” the press release notes.
Information about the exhibits was placed on stands specially installed along the embankment; now everyone can learn about the properties of stones, their extraction and use in production.
