Democratic Party Congress nominates Obama for US President

The US Democratic Party at its convention in North Carolina approved Barack Obama as its presidential candidate, Reuters reports. As a reminder, the elections will be held on November 6.

Barack Obama was nominated by former President Bill Clinton. He said that thanks to Obama, the United States economy did not slip back into crisis. Clinton also criticized Republicans.

The current holder of this post, Joseph Biden, has been nominated as the Democratic candidate for US Vice President.

Barack Obama is scheduled to address the convention on Thursday. He will become a presidential candidate after accepting the Democratic nomination in his speech.
