Gogol theater staff held a rally against dismissal. The performance of the actors took place in the lobby of the theater. One of the actors read out a telegram from Serebrennikov, who is now in Berlin.

In it, Serebrennikov said that he understands the condition of the artists and does not advise them to fight with riot police, because it will not solve problems in the theater, he advises everyone to calm down, wait for his return to Russia and sit down at the negotiating table.

After the new artistic director of the theater was appointed Kirill Serebrennikov, 14 actors were invited to leave their place of work.

At the rally, the actors emphasized that they were not against Serebrennikov, but against his plans to reform the theater. Nevertheless, among the requirements of the troupe read by the director of the theater Anatoly Beirak, the abolition of the appointment of Serebrennikov was mentioned by the art director of the theater and holding a creative competition for the replacement of the positions of the artistic director and director of the theater, taking into account the opinions of the actors. In addition, the actors advocated the preservation of the troupe and repertoire of the theater. “We demand that the theater live and live in this house,” said Anatoly Beirak. The actors also confirmed their readiness, in case of termination of contracts with them, go to court and, if necessary, go to the rally or declare a hunger strike.
