I had completely forgotten about these toy elections to the toy Council under the President of the Russian Federation. And they are coming. And even a few people vote.
I open the list of nominations . And here I am, for the first time, after I had to read out a swearing entry from my blog at the trial on behalf of the defense in an extremist case, I want to swear publicly. There is so much crap on these lists! Who are they? What made them famous in the field of civil society?
I am opening the nomination “Public control over law enforcement agencies.” I see Anatoly Kucherena as a leader. I suspect something is wrong. Well, there simply cannot be so many uncomplicated citizens in the country who would believe in the defender Kucherena. Having nothing against lawyer Kucherena, I can hardly imagine him as our defender from the police. But I represent Pavel Chikov. Because when my friends in different cities of Russia needed protection from organs, it was not Kucherena who protected them for free, but Chikov and Co. And when riot police burst into our frail town of Zavodoukovsk at night with what looked like a punitive raid, scattering people against the walls of cafes, it was not Kucherena who came to this town for his own money, but “Agora”.
And it’s not in vain that I am surprised at the agility of Anatoly Kucherena. Here they are looking into whether the respected lawyer was cheated out of votes.
It's nasty, of course. Theatrical elections to a meaningless body - and then they were taxed. The people have no opportunity left to hone their electoral skills. There is no faith left in elections.
