The prosecutor's office failed to get the acquittal of ex-mayor of Elista Burulov overturned
The Supreme Court of Kalmykia upheld the acquittal of ex-mayor of Elista Radiy Burulov and two former employees of the mayor's office in the case of abuse of power and official forgery, the press service of the republic's Supreme Court told Interfax-South.
On June 28 of this year, the Elista City Court acquitted Radiy Burulov, the director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Architectural Planning Bureau" Nikolai Nimgirov and the head of the land management department of the mayor's office Konstantin Korneev on all charges brought against them due to the lack of corpus delicti in their actions.
The prosecutor's office filed a cassation appeal against this court decision in the Supreme Court of the republic. However, by the decision of the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court, the decision of the Elista City Court in relation to the named persons was left unchanged, and the acquittal came into force, the press service noted.
According to the materials of the court case, according to the investigation, from October 2005 to February 2007, the former mayor of Elista, out of selfish interest, in order to obtain property benefits for his relatives and friends, provided them with land plots for individual housing construction on the territory of Elista, located in the municipal property. In violation of the requirements of land legislation, plots were provided without an auction. The budgets of Kalmykia and Elista suffered damage amounting to more than 9.1 million rubles.
