The swimming pool will be put into operation in the city of Shuya, Ivanovo region, in December, said the head of the regional department of sports and tourism Nikolai Zotov at a meeting of the regional government.
Construction of the pool began in 2011 as part of the long-term target program "Development of physical education and sports in the Ivanovo region in 2011-2015." In 2011-2012, 146.2 million rubles were spent on the construction of the pool, of which 90 million rubles came from the state treasury, 27 million rubles from the regional budget and 16.3 million rubles from the local budget. Another 12.9 million rubles were allocated for the supply of technological equipment for the pool as a subsidy within the framework of a joint project of the Russian Ministry of Sports and Tourism and United Russia.
The head of the department reported that, as part of the targeted program, the foundations of sports and recreation centers with a universal gym and swimming pool are being laid in the Privolzhsky and Rodnikovsky districts. In Ivanovo, a site is being prepared for the construction of a Palace of Team Sports, and construction of a football field with artificial turf will soon begin at the Spartak stadium in Shuya. According to him, the total amount of funding for the program in 2012 will be 296.7 million rubles, where 217.2 million rubles are federal budget funds and 79.5 million rubles are regional funds. Zotov noted that funding for the program in 2011 amounted to 115 million rubles, including from the federal budget - 58.4 million rubles, regional - 56.6 million rubles.
Zotov added that in 2011, the department’s main efforts were aimed at developing design estimates for the regional sports training center for Olympic sports in the village of Dolmatovsky, Zavolzhsky district, sports and recreation centers in Teykovo, Rodnikovsky and Privolzhsky districts, and the Palace of Team Sports in Ivanovo.
