The leadership of Chechnya purchases gilded furniture worth 10.75 million rubles for its own needs.

The Administration of the Head and Government of the Chechen Republic has announced a tender to identify a supplier of furniture for administrative premises. The order was placed on September 5 on the government procurement website . Applications will close on September 26. An auction is scheduled to take place on October 1.

The initial (maximum) contract price is: 10,750,000 rubles.

Among the 23 items ordered and required for the leadership of Chechnya is mahogany-colored varnished furniture. This is 1 conference table made of natural wood (solid walnut and linden) with inserts of genuine red cowhide, inlaid with various valuable types of wood and gilded using the gold leaf method. Plus 9 chairs of the same quality, 3 armchairs, 1 desk and 1 computer desk, TV stand. As well as 2 executive chairs and a corner library. Among the ordered items there is a two-seater sofa on a “hidden” frame (upholstery - textile, gray with silver thread embroidery, decorative pillows), the same armchair and an impressive coffee table (bronze, casting, silver color, marble tabletop 20 mm thick).

Let us recall that in August 2009, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put up three lots on the government procurement website for the purchase of furniture for its needs for 24.4 million rubles. One of the lots included 55 items, including a cherry bed, decorated with hand carvings, covered at the head and foot with a “thin layer of 24-carat gold” of the highest, 999th standard.

The purchase of a gilded bed for the Department of Economic Security and the reception house of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Serebryany Bor caused a scandal. First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Mikhail Sukhodolsky then explained that the bed was purchased “to equip directly those places, including where, for example, foreign delegations will be accommodated.”
