Those who signed the appeal—38 people—accuse the leadership of the Foreign Ministry, including Minister Sergei Lavrov and his inner circle, of nepotism and “flagrant corruption that permeates the entire system of economic and financial activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”

At the same time, the authors of the letter note that they have already written similar complaints several times in the hope that the addressees “will instruct their services to check and stop the unprecedented theft of budget funds and state property and eliminate the ongoing lawlessness.” At the same time, they asked not to disclose their last names, fearing that “the most repressive measures will be taken against them.”

“What did we get? And the fact is that all our letters were sent to the consideration of those who are involved in corruption or who were bought by the leadership of the ministry with handouts,” the open letter says. At the same time, the signatories especially note that the level of corruption has especially increased recently, “which is associated with rumors about Lavrov’s imminent departure and his team is trying to grab everything they can, using the shortest possible corruption schemes, using direct forgeries documents, intimidation, blackmail, threats, bribes and other similar dirty methods.”

Among the listed facts of nepotism and corruption are mentioned, in particular, Sergei Lavrov’s appointment of his close friends and classmates at MGIMO to senior positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, purchases of official cars at inflated prices, strange victories of the same companies in competitions held by the ministry for the construction and overhaul of facilities abroad and in Russia, fraud with land plots allocated for construction, illegal privatization of sanatoriums and holiday homes, etc.

The authors of the letter paid special attention to the queue for free housing. According to them, it has become common practice in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to allocate departmental apartments in the center of Moscow to “their” people, while it has become almost impossible for ordinary employees to get housing in turn.

At the same time, it is emphasized in the letter that the top officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and GlavUpDK under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are involved in all dubious schemes.

The authors of the letter admit that it turned out to be “voluminous and chaotic” and promise to post the next part of the revelations online in the future. Because “the patience of the Foreign Ministry staff has run out.”
