Tbilisi did not give Moscow the caught ally of Umarov

The Ministry of Justice of Georgia refutes the information of local media about the transfer of Russia by the detained citizen of the Russian Federation Akhmed Chataev , who was captured with weapons during the ongoing special operation in the Lopot gorge.

“This information is not true,” said the head of the public relations service of the Ministry of Justice of Khatun Iosav to the information center of Kakheti on Friday, Interfax reports.

Earlier, some Georgian media reported that the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs was handed over to the Russian side of one of the closest associates of the leader of the North Caucasian Band of Doku Umarov - Akhmed Chataev. He was detained on September 9th.

According to the Georgian security forces, Chataev was part of the armed sabotage group of the "bearded" , the special operation against which was held near the Dagestan section of the Georgian-Russian border at the end of August.

Earlier, Georgian authorities reported that 17 bearded men armed with machine guns and grenade launchers penetrated into Georgia from Dagestan. On August 28, the militants in the forest of the Lopot gorge captured five residents of the village of Lapankuri, the Teyvsky district.

After the militants rejected the demand to surrender and release the hostages, a special operation began on August 29. The captives were released, they were not injured. During the shootout, 11 militants were killed, three people were killed on the Georgian side. Six more saboteurs managed to hide.

In turn, the Russian law enforcement agencies refuted the information of the Georgian authorities, noting that no violations of the Russian-Georgian border were recorded during the specified period. The Russian security forces called the Georgian authorities to be provocative.

In early September, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that five out of 11 liquidated militants were Russian citizens, two had Georgian citizenship.
