In August, Russian banks increased the amount of lending to non -financial organizations by 2.1%, and the population - by 3.6%, the Central Bank said. The last indicator is seriously worried about experts who are afraid that next year there will be a situation in which thousands of Russians will find themselves in a debt pit, being able to pay off creditors, they write New Izvestia on Friday.
In July 2012, according to the Central Bank, the volume of lending to individuals increased by 2.8%. Despite the summer period, citizens continue to actively get into debt. As analysts explain, banks, trying to lure customers, reduce the requirements and try to greatly simplify the procedure for obtaining a loan.
Experts are the greatest alarm is the fact that Russians not only draw up simple consumer loans, but also enthusiastically acquire credit cards. The growth rate of the issuance of "plastic" is twice the dynamics of the growth of consumer lending. So, in the first half of the year, the debts of borrowers on credit cards, according to the Central Bank, increased by 36%. The volume of loans issued on credit cards exceeded 0.5 trillion. rubles - this is more than 12% of the total volume of loans issued by banks to individuals, which is 4.2 trillion. rubles.
“There is a dangerous situation: loans are given to people with fairly low income, which plunges these families into even greater poverty,” the chairman of the board of the International Confederation of Consumer Rights Dmitry Yanin told the newspaper.
According to him, “most loans are unsecured, and bets on them are several times higher than inflation, an average of 40% per annum, this is a lot. People create an illusion that they can all acquire, but in reality these loans make them even poorer. The social consequences of such lending, we will most likely see the difficulties to repay these loans.”
Yanin urges citizens not to take loans until the protection of borrowers is provided at the legislative level - that is, before the adoption of laws on bankruptcy of individuals and on collection activities.
