What was that again? I'm talking about the March of Millions...
I went to all the rallies except yesterday (my broken leg has not healed yet). And now I have observed everything that is happening from the outside, so I pretend to some kind of objectivity.
There is a feeling that the organizers (as well as their opponents - which is understandable) are interested, first of all, in the number of participants. And so they measure with instruments: “again it was more than 100 thousand - no, it was only 14.” Well, what's the difference? What matters is the quality, the content, not the form. Trite? But it’s time to do something so that it’s not trivial.
And then we will be indignant: state propaganda/federal channels talk in detail about anarchists, nationalists, sexual minorities, monarchists and whoever else. What about us? Intelligent angry townspeople, the creative class, decent, smart people, so to speak, “the flower of the nation, the salt of the earth”?
But look at the picture (aka the form) - there are many of them, certainly no less than us. And they have flags, slogans, their own columns, everything is colorful. What about Facebook people? Quite witty, but rare posters, around which small groups of these were grouped...
In the fall and winter, it was personally clear to me why I was going to the rally; I was quite satisfied with the main demand at that time - fair elections. And I was disgusted that they treated us so rudely, so I signed up as observers - “water wears away stones” (I hate the cliché, but it fits here).
However, in the spring and summer, I, like many of my friends, went to rallies “so that we would at least be counted.” And for me personally, it was somehow wild and strange to be next to dubious flags, provocateurs and freaks.
Well, everything is ok, they counted us (although the score still remains unequal), they overcame the problem of growth, showed the discontent of the masses, forced state propaganda to come out of their stupor/ignorance and show rallies on TV. Well, what next? Adolescence must develop into at least adolescence...
Now many respected, wonderful, enterprising people are engaged in organizational issues, collecting money, negotiating with city authorities, coordinating routes, providing toilets-screens-stages-microphones, wallets and notifications on Facebook.
Yes, there are some miscalculations (why, for example, is there a need for a rally for 8 hours? Or go to the other side of Sadovoy?), but these are minor things.
Small things compared to the fact that as a result the meaning of the action is lost.
In fact, everything that the organizers do now works to ensure that various monarchists/nationalists/anarchists/etc. expressed themselves. And non-system leaders finally got access to microphones. Well, great - we got it (six months ago, by the way).
At the same time, everyone still talks about their own things, although they have now begun to emphasize that they have agreed on something important. About what? About the fact that Putin is a thief? What should Russia be without Putin?
I really don’t understand. And the authorities - even more so, if only because, stupidly, it is not profitable for them.
Of course, it is easier to criticize than to do something. But a sober, sane look from the (friendly) side is needed. So I'll take the risk.
What if you don’t chase quantity? After all, we are all convinced that this no longer works (I mean massive multi-thousand actions without specific content).
What if it’s time to work “spot on”, but for sure?
Who is stopping you from organizing a protest on one specific topic? Well, let's say - against judicial arbitrariness for starters? After all, this, in my (philistine) opinion, is the most important thing now. So far, everything really comes down to the imperfection of the judicial system (does it need to be deciphered?).
And take to the streets with appropriate slogans. Speak in the press with specific examples, with proposals, with plans for the reform of Russian courts? Voice these problems at rallies?
After all, completely different political forces can easily unite and start hammering, hammering, hammering on at least one, but such an important, topic. And to achieve results – that’s enough water. We have to start with something concrete.
