More than 12 thousand people took part in the carnival procession as part of the celebration of the 380th anniversary of the founding of Yakutsk, who simultaneously danced and performed their number, the press service of the city administration reports.
The colorful carnival parade was symbolized by a train with eight carriages - one from each city district. Also within the framework of the carnival, competitions for the best headdress, a competition for twins and baby carriages were held.
The festive events lasted two days - September 15 and 16. The organizers prepared 57 programs in which more than 7 thousand citizens took part.
The leadership of the city and the republic laid flowers at the monuments of the city’s founder Pyotr Beketov, the first governor of the Yakut region Ivan Kraft, researcher Semyon Dezhnev and his wife Abakayade.
Townspeople and guests of the holiday were treated to a cake in the shape of a Russian flag, made by the Yakut Bread Factory, which was eight meters long, 3 meters wide, and weighed 380 kg. The cake consisted of 1600 pieces of cake.
As part of the holiday, Mother's Square was opened. The presentation of the monument “Mother of Yakutia” took place there. The sculpture weighing 2495 kg was made by artist-sculptor Afanasy Romanov. The monument is made in the form of a woman-mother with a child in her arms, with three falcons flying into the sky from her other hand - this is the image of mothers of all times, ages and nations.
The City Day celebration ended with a laser light show and fireworks.
