John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono to award Pussy Riot the Peace Prize

John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, will honor Russian punk band Pussy Riot with the Lennon-Ono Peace Prize at a ceremony Friday in New York. Petru Verzilov, the husband of one of the convicted members of the group, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, said that he will go to the award ceremony with his 4-year-old daughter Gera, who will receive the award.

“We are very happy about this fact. The prize will be received by Gera Verzilova, Nadya and I’s 4-year-old daughter,” he said.

When asked by a correspondent of the Russian News Service whether the authors of the acclaimed film “The Innocence of Muslims” are worthy of this prize, Verzilov found it difficult to answer.

“The award is given for contributions to world peace. I wonder what the film “The Innocence of Muslims” has to do with it?” he asked.

And personally, I’m wondering what Pussy Riot has to do with it?

What have they personally done for world peace?

Of course, for what they did, 2 years is not the punishment they deserved - community service would have been enough.

And again, my personal opinion, if they had committed their ugly act in the mosque, the consequences could have been the same as after the film “The Innocence of a Muslim.”
