More than a hundred people are looking for four convicts from correctional colony No. 34 in the village of Vozhsky, Udora district of Komi, who got lost in the forest while picking berries and mushrooms, the press service of the regional GUFSIN told Interfax on Thursday.
Currently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Komi, Ust-Vymsky, Udora and Lensky Departments of Internal Affairs are targeted for search. The search is carried out using motor boats along the Osa and Vashka rivers, in the forest in adjacent areas. Search tasks were sent to the territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service in the Yaroslavl, Kaluga, Vologda regions, and Stavropol Territory.
The search involves employees of the colony-settlement, the search department, the special purpose department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Komi, the Committee for Civil Protection of the Population, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, equipped with navigators and rescue equipment with two search dogs.
In addition, on September 16, a helicopter flew out to search. A total of 114 people are involved in the search.
The convicts, who worked at a logging site 120 km from the colony and got lost, have been searched for since September 10. The missing are characterized positively and are not included in the operational and preventive register. According to the information received, they intended to collect berries and mushrooms for their own needs after work. There is a high probability that they got lost in the forest.
