Official sales of the new generation Apple gadget have started in America, Canada, and a number of European and Asian countries. Traditionally, the main excitement around the iPhone 5 is observed in the United States, and the Old World reacts to the new product much calmer, observers report.

iPhone 5 is officially on sale. The new Apple smartphone was the first to hit the shelves in Australia. Long queues formed outside the company's Sydney store, with some customers living in tents outside the store since Tuesday. In total, on September 21, the gadget will go on sale in nine countries. Among them are the USA, Canada, as well as several European and Asian countries. In the United States and Australia, pre-orders for the fifth iPhone have already broken all records. Representatives of the Old World reacted much more calmly to Apple's next creation. In Germany, there is no queue for the telephone, said Sergei Sumlenny, the Expert magazine’s own correspondent in the country.

“In Germany there is no excitement about the release of the fifth iPhone. It was the release of the iPad that was such a breakthrough event at one time, it was the first “tablet” from Apple. People with iPads, when they first appeared, were paid attention, they were approached and asked “how the device works,” he said.

The French turned out to be more greedy for the new product from Apple. It is from France, by the way, that the shuttle companies intend to bring “gray” iPhones to Russia. However, in Paris, sales of the gadget were on the verge of collapse, said Kommersant FM’s own correspondent in France, Polina Myakinchenko.

One way or another, the main sales of the iPhone will still be made in the USA, experts say. Europeans still prefer phones running the Android operating system, said mobile technology expert Alexander Patsay.

“Europe usually lags behind in this regard and is much less fanatical about Apple’s presence than the Americans. Android’s position in Europe is much better than the iPhone’s position. This is due not only to the fact that Android has many more different and cheaper devices, but also with the fact that Apple is an American company, and Europeans are cooler about the corporation’s achievements. Plus, the iPhone is significantly more expensive in Europe than in America,” Patsay noted.

Official sales of iPhone 5 in Russia, according to experts, should start towards the end of the year. Until that time, “gray” devices will be available on the market at prices significantly inflated by resellers.
