The protest movement is not at all homogeneous. The vast majority are normal people with a somewhat heightened sense of justice who intend to live in a free country, and not in some kind of parody of a monarchy. But there is a small number of participants in the protest movement (the so-called “ irreconcilables”) who, with their irrepressible activity, cause great damage to the movement.
It is the “irreconcilables” who shout “occupiers” and “trash” at police officers at rallies and marches, it is they who demand the wholesale lustration of all officials and members of United Russia, it is they who broadcast at every corner about the “bloody KGB” and push sensible people away from protests who do not want to join the ranks of the “ city madmen” .
But United Russia is not at all homogeneous...
Currently, more than two million people are members of the United Russia party; Moreover, the absolute majority of them - state employees, pensioners, low-ranking officials - joined the ranks of the party "in a single impulse" , guided by orders "from above". Should they all be lustrated too?
But this post is not about ordinary United Russia members.
Look at the seemingly elite of the party - the deputies of the United Russia faction, who have 238 mandates in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
Now remember, how many of them acted as fierce opponents of the protest movement?
Nothing of the kind!
The group of gentlemen deputies who almost on a daily basis praise the achievements of a “great country under the leadership of a wise leader” and brand the opposition is very small...
And you have known all the characters from this troupe by name for a long time:
This is Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Andrei Vorobyov , who leads the United Russia faction in the State Duma, is the son of Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council Yu. Vorobyov and the brother of M. Vorobyov - the formal head of the family business empire "Russian Sea" (by the way, a joint venture with the structures of that G. Timchenko himself).
This is State Duma Deputy Speaker Sergei Neverov , whose conflict with A. Tuleyev is caused by many people citing the intrigues of his strengthened pet, who has not given up hope of replacing his long-term patron as governor of the Kemerovo region.
This is State Duma Deputy Speaker Sergei Zheleznyak , who worked for many years under the leadership of media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, and in recent years has diligently played the role of a patriot-statist and fighter against the “enemies of Russia.” I can’t help but remember how LDPR deputy A. Lugovoi called the “ patriot” Zheleznyak “ an agent of influence of Western countries” :
“Considering himself to be the conductor of the policies of the State Department and US satellites, Murdoch is trying to undermine the system from the inside, integrating his proteges into it and placing them in key government positions. A striking example is the story with the Russian representative offices of News Corp, as a result of which the former director of News Outdoor Russia, Mr. Zheleznyak not only ended up in the State Duma, but also received the position of chairman of the strategic committee responsible for telecommunications, media and information policy in Russia.
It is unclear how and by whose ill will a person could end up in such a post, under whose leadership News Outdoor covered half of Moscow with advertising with fake approvals and did not pay taxes for 1.34 billion rubles, which was confirmed by court decisions.”
To promote the most odious bills, provincial political strategists Kostunov , Sidyakin and Burmatov, employed in parliament, are used over and over again.
Well, who else can you remember?
Well, only if it’s about the ideological and uncompromising “Yabloko” member Irina Yarovaya , who for many years fiercely fought against the “ party in power” and has now imitated herself into an equally ideological and uncompromising “United Russia”.
Well, maybe it’s also worth mentioning Comrade Pekhtin , who has been sitting in the State Duma for the fourth convocation in a row and has become known to the public for his fight to lift parliamentary immunity from opposition deputies, as well as suspicious fraud with land plots.
Well, for the full picture, we should not forget the deputy Andrei Isaev , who is also sitting in the State Duma for the fourth convocation, and at the same time, not without benefit for himself,“spreading Orthodoxy” in Western Europe...
One could mention turner-deputy Trapeznikov , but he still evokes more pity than contempt, because with all his behavior he resembles a simple-minded peasant serf, onto whom the master’s grace was suddenly poured out. And now the favored man, having replaced his tattered coat with an expensive caftan, obediently clowns around in front of the nobility, afraid of being exiled back “to the people”...
In general, that’s all... This list covers almost all the so-called. " defenders of stability" within the walls of the State Duma...
Well, where are the rest of the more than two hundred deputies from the United Russia party?
Why is there no praise from them for the “national leader” or denunciations of the “anti-people essence” of the protest movement?
Yes, they are not going to participate in a “crusade” against their people, since they understand perfectly well that the ruling regime does not have much time left.
For obvious reasons, they are forced to participate as a “ united front” in the voting, not wanting to lose their mandates, however, they are not going to openly oppose the protest movement in principle.
And this must be taken into account...
It's time to stop fruitless talk about lustration and contrast the protest movement with the rest of the population. There is no need to make enemies out of anyone. And don't forget the main thing:
A protest movement is not an opposition.
The protest movement is a significant part of the country's population that is no longer going to put up with the abuses of a group of people in power who have turned the country into their fiefdom.
And after the fall of the ruling regime, Russia will become a free and democratic country, in the leadership of which many of our fellow citizens will certainly take part, who, due to various circumstances, are now in the ranks of the United Russia party.
