Hi all!
We - I mean myself personally and my like-minded people on the Civic Platform - have decided who we will support in the elections for the mayor of Khimki. I honestly admit: the debate was serious, because in our ranks there are both conservative and liberal-minded people of different ages and professions. Respect for professionalism, citizenship and the ability to set priorities - this is what unites us and what has become the main selection criterion.
We understand both the political weight of the candidate from the party in power, Oleg Shakhov, and the popularity of the outspoken oppositionist Evgenia Chirikova. However, in my opinion, the ideal mayor is a person who not only knows the city well, and is not just popular among Khimki residents. The ideal mayor is a professional leader who is able to offer a clear program for solving specific urban problems, and not just those exclusively related to Khimki. Khimki's problems are Moscow's problems. Every candidate for mayor of the city should understand this connection, which is growing stronger every year. But the candidate we decided to support has another, in our opinion, “iron” advantage. He is non-partisan and the least politicized among the other candidates. I am sure that while doing his job, this person will not look back at either the authorities or the opposition. He won’t care what they think about him in the Kremlin or on Bolotnaya. The most important thing for Igor Belousov is what the residents of Khimki, who are not preoccupied with political intrigue, will say about his work. That is why the Civic Platform will support Igor Belousov, a non-partisan professional who knows exactly what he is doing, in the mayoral elections.
