Maserati introduced in Paris its new crossover, which finally received the name - Levante. The design is based on the developments and the experience gained in the process of creating the Kubang concept, which last year conquered the Frankfurt car dealership, reports Avtawro .
The Italians did not bother much to develop their own trolley and took the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform as a basis.
The car received the name Levante in honor of the event that happened already in 1919 - it was then that Maserati moved to Via Emilia Levante Street in Bologna.
By the way, Levante translated from Italian means "East". However, despite its Italian roots, name and brand, Levante will gather in Detroit - the cradle of the American automotive industry.
The SUV will go on sale only in 2014, when Maserati celebrates its centenary, and the Italians have serious plans for him.
The company plans to increase the number of cars sold per year to 50,000. It sounds very ambitious, especially against the background of 7,000 units sold over the past year.
