According to the analytical company Comscore, in August of this year, the number of daily visitors to the Instagram photo exchange exceeded the number of daily visits to the Twitter microblogging service, ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the Allhingsdigital Technoblog.
In the last month of summer, Instagram visited an average of 7.3 million owners of smartphones daily, and only 6.8 million visitors had a share of Twitter for the same period. At the same time, about 29 million users are registered on Twitter, and less than 22 million on Instagram.
Moreover, on average, Instagram service users spent 257 minutes per month on the site, while Twitter users were less than 170 minutes.
The social photo service Instagram was launched in January 2011. The service allows you to process photographs taken using mobile devices based on iOS and Android, and share photos with friends. Also, the service allows you to impose special effects on pictures from the smartphone camera, which allows, for example, to "grow" a photo or hide the shortcomings in its quality. Instagram does not have a web version, but the photos can be broadcast to social networks.
The creators of the service position it as a quick, beautiful and cheerful way to share their life with friends with the help of pictures. Instagram users, in fact, are participants in the world's largest “purely mobile” social network, except for Chinese.
In early April, the Instagram service was purchased by Facebook for $ 1 billion. Then the experts noted that such a significant purchase was made by Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Facebook, so that Instagram would not go to Google or Twitter, becoming a competitor to Facebook.
Note, shortly after the deal of the creators of Instagram with Tsuckerberg, the Twitter administration closed the photo service access to information about friends of its users.
