The design of the four stadiums of the 2018 World Cup will begin in 2012

The design of four stadiums in four cities that will be adopted by the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia will begin this year, said the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation and the chairman of the Russia-2018 organizational committee Vitaly Mutko. A billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes.

Russia received the right to hold the 2018 World Cup in December 2010. On Saturday, cities that will accept world championship became known. These were Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Saransk and Volgograd. Krasnodar and Yaroslavl were left without football.

“The Russian government has already adopted a number of decisions. A month ago, the government has determined the procedure for designing our stadiums. Five stadiums are already being built: in St. Petersburg, in Kazan, in Sochi, Saransk and the Spartak stadium in Moscow. By the end of the year, we allocated a billion rubles for the design of four more stadiums,” RIA Novosti quoted Mutko.

According to the official, the design of stadiums in Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov-on-Don will begin with a high probability. Another city is still being selected between two candidates.

"Next year, 4.9 billion rubles were placed in the 2013 budget for the design and completion of the design of the remaining three stadiums, and possibly the construction of one of the stadiums who will have a great readiness," the Minister of Sports of Russia added.

The FIFA Executive Committee approved the final list of organizing cities at a meeting on September 28 in Zurich.
