Publishing house Egmont has acquired the rights to publish books and magazines on the game Minecraft from the Swedish studio Mojang. This was reported by the Techcrunch portal.

It is unclear what Egmont's Minecraft print editions will represent. However, representatives of the publisher explained that they are going to release several products based on this game, and their release will take place next year. It is also unclear where Minecraft magazines and books will appear in 2013, however, as the portal clarifies, under the terms of the deal, Egmont can publish them in all regions except the United States.

The English publishing house Egmont is a division of the media corporation Egmont Group. It specializes in publishing books and magazines for children. Remarkably, Minecraft became the second popular game in recent times that Egmont decided to turn into a printed publication. Prior to this, the company acquired the rights to publish a book on Angry Birds.

The alpha version of Minecraft was released in 2009, and its final version appeared on personal computers in November 2011. To date, about 42.7 million people have registered for the PC version of Minecraft, with 7.5 million choosing the paid version of the game. In the spring of 2012, Mojang and studio 4J released a version of the game for the Xbox 360 console. By September 30, it had sold four million copies.

The essence of the game is that the characters in the game need to interact with the world around them. They have to extract resources, build buildings (and more), defend themselves from aggressive fauna and compete with each other. Visually, the game resembles three-dimensional pixel art, and all objects in it consist of cubes.
