Jordan Mechner's remake of Karateka will be released for the Xbox 360 console on November 14th. This was reported on the game's page on Xbox.com. The first screenshots of the new Karateka were also published there.

As previously reported, the new Karateka will be a rhythm fighting game. The game's description on Xbox.com states that in addition to Jordan Mechner and developers from Liquid Entertainment, artist Jeff Matsuda (known for his work on the animated series "Batman") and composer Christopher Tin, who created the soundtrack to the fourth part of Civilization, participated in the creation of the new Karateka.

The exact release dates for the game on other platforms have not yet been announced. The new Karateka was announced in February 2012. Then it was reported that it would be released on Xbox 360 and PS3. However, it later became known that the release would also take place on PC, iOS and the new Nintendo console - Wii U.

The plot of the new Karateka will repeat the original game. Its heroes will need to fight the minions of the evil Lord Akuma in order to free Princess Mariko from his power and return her to her lover. However, unlike the first Karateka, there will be not one, but three heroes. The gameplay of the new version will also be significantly different from the old game.

Jordan Mechner released the first Karateka in 1984 on the Apple II. It was later ported to other platforms - from the Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum to the Game Boy. The game is considered a cult.
