The Supreme Court refused to satisfy the complaint of the LGBT organization Coming Out, which demanded the repeal of the law in force in St. Petersburg banning the promotion of homosexuality among children. Previously, a similar decision was made by the St. Petersburg City Court.

Representatives of “Vykhod” believe that the scandalous St. Petersburg law violates the principle of equality of citizens before the law. In addition, in their opinion, the harm that homosexuality allegedly causes to society and, as a consequence, its propaganda, has not been proven, and in general the term “propaganda”, as well as “bisexuality” and “transgenderism” mentioned in the text of the law, do not have an exact definition. legal definition. The authors of the complaint also believe that the law provokes violence against representatives of sexual minorities.

At a meeting in the Supreme Court, representatives of “Vykhod” said that the idea of ​​tolerance may be embedded in childhood: minors may have peers of non-traditional orientation, and “they should be presented with adequate information, not negative information,” Kommersant-Online reports. "

But the Supreme Court agreed with representatives of the prosecutor's office and the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, who stated that the decision of the first instance was justified and cannot be canceled.

Representatives of “Vykhod” intend to go, if necessary, to the European Court of Human Rights.
