Over the past two years, the capital's authorities have stopped implementing investment contracts that provided for the construction of 10 million square meters. meters of real estate. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated this on October 7 in an interview with the “News of the Week” program on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, the construction complex’s Internet portal reports .
“The main task of the authorities is to make Moscow comfortable for residents. For this purpose, among other things, we stopped investment contracts for ten million square meters - that’s about $50 billion. And they did this absolutely deliberately, because if these projects had been implemented, we would have completely killed the city,” Sobyanin emphasized.
According to him, today the capital’s authorities have “turned the investment locomotive in the other direction.” The ideology is to create jobs on the outskirts and build housing closer to the center. “Thus, the development of Moscow becomes more predictable, and the city becomes more comfortable for living,” the mayor noted.
In previous years, the picture was exactly the opposite, as a result of which millions of citizens move daily from residential areas on the periphery to the center and back.
“These urban planning errors have created a colossal transport problem. In my opinion, there is only one way out: the development of public transport. No other metropolis in the world has solved this problem differently. Currently, work is already underway at 90 subway construction sites, where 18 thousand people are involved. And in the next three years, the introduction of metro lines will be massive. In addition, in the coming three years we will reconstruct the so-called outbound highways of the city and speed up the movement of public transport,” Sobyanin said.
Let us remember that after becoming mayor, Sobyanin began a total audit of construction investment contracts. As a result, at the end of last year, projects totaling 8.2 million square meters were canceled. m
