Defenders "Freedom"

On October 9, the US Embassy in Moscow passed pickets in defense of the Radio Liberty radio station, which has stopped broadcasting on medium waves from November 10. Participants of the action protested against the dismissal of almost the entire Internet edit of the Freedom radio and a significant part of the main edition

The reason for the closure of the radio station on medium waves was the inconsistency of the composition of the founders of the company to Russian law. According to the amendments introduced into the law on the media, in Russia on medium waves, the broadcasting of those radio stations in which the share of foreign founders is more than 48%is prohibited. There are more than 50% of foreigners in the founders of the Freedom Radio.

About 30 people took part in the US Embassy in Moscow.
