As emphasized in the BAE Systems report, negotiations failed due to the fact that the main shareholders of the company - the governments of France, Germany and the UK - could not reach an agreement on their shares in the united complex.

The company was announced on the beginning of negotiations on September 12. In case of successful completion of negotiations in the market, the largest aerospace corporation could appear, which, according to forecasts, was supposed to overtake Boeing in the field of sales.

It was assumed that EADS investors will receive 60 percent of the shares of the new company, the shareholders of the WAI - 40 percent, and the capitalization of the United Corporation will amount to $ 48 billion.

However, the shareholders of the companies had political disagreements that they could not agree on. London threatened to apply a veto on the contract, insisting that Paris and Berlin were entrusted that they would not increase their total share to 18%. Now France has a 15% stake, which during the merger was to be blurred up to 9%. Germany, in turn, insisted on the equation of shares with France.
