The heads of Moscow government wrote letters of gratitude to themselves on the “Our City” portal. According to RIA Novosti , Deputy Mayor Anastasia Rakova spoke about this at an operational meeting. Such thanks were rejected by the site's moderation service.

Moderators discovered more than three and a half thousand dubious messages (for how long is not specified). For example, on June 6, 2012, within 20 minutes, the same user sent comments with approximately the same text to three different unrelated addresses. “Therefore, I would really ask the heads of government not to engage in self-PR in such a primitive way,” Rakova said. She promised that in the future, “intrusive thanks” will also be rejected.

Most often, it was the officials of the Eastern, Southern and North-Eastern districts who left the gratitude to themselves: the councils of the Sokolinaya Gora, Novogireevo, Perovo, Tsaritsyno, Chertanovo Yuzhnoye, Orekhovo-Borisovo and Otradnoe districts were caught in the act of “self-PR”.

The portal "Our City. Moscow Development Program" was created on the initiative of the Moscow City Hall in October 2011. Since then, more than 34 thousand users have registered on it. They left about 15 thousand comments, and their number increased 2.5 times from May to September 2012. During this time, the percentage of complaints about poorly performed work also increased. According to the Moscow City Hall website, 63 percent of complaints are considered objective.

The portal contains information about work to improve courtyard areas and repair houses, including replacing the elevator and repairing the entrance. Any user can control the quality and timing of work and leave comments about the maintenance of courtyards, the provision of subsidized medicines and other issues related to the city.
