The browser, released by Yandex , gained a million downloads in 11 days. This is stated in a Yandex message received by the editors of Lenta.ru.

Yandex presented the browser on October 1 at the YaC technology conference in Moscow. The web browser became available for download on the same day at 17:00 Moscow time. Yandex Browser can be installed on computers running Windows and Mac OS.

"Yandex.Browser" is based on the WebKit engine and the Chromium shell. The features of the web browser are a laconic interface, a color-changing address bar (when you enter a query, it turns from gray to yellow) and a quick access panel “Tableau”.

The browser is integrated with a number of Yandex services. For example, when you enter the words “weather” and “traffic” into the address bar, data from the corresponding Yandex services is displayed, and the browser offers to translate pages in languages other than Russian using Yandex.Translation.

A few days before the announcement of Yandex.Browser, another Russian Internet company, Mail.ru, presented its own browser . Her browser, called "Amigo", is currently in alpha version status. It can be downloaded by invitation only.

According to the StatCounter service, the most popular browser in Russia is Google Chrome. The Chrome browser launched in 2008 and received nearly two million downloads in its first week.
