Photo: ITAR-TASSOn the last day of election campaigning in Khimki, where the mayor of the city will be elected on Sunday, unknown persons destroyed the office of candidate Oleg Mitvol and also attacked agitators for the “Local” movement.
UPDATE A law enforcement source told PublicPost that one of the attackers on Oleg Mitvol's headquarters was Oleg Mashkov, a former special forces officer who was fired from the military for beating his commander. According to unconfirmed reports, Mashkov works as a security guard for one of the Khimki entrepreneurs, and also ensures the security of one of the key candidates for the post of mayor in Khimki. It was this man, together with his dog named “Azar”, who was previously identified by Oleg Mitvol as a participant in the beating of a Tajik during the campaign for Evgenia Chirikova on October 6. |
On the afternoon of October 12, at approximately 5:30 p.m., about 10 strong young men drove up to the office in cars. Four of them with a dog burst into the basement office and began turning over boxes of campaign materials, the mayoral candidate said. At the election headquarters at that moment there were several elderly women and girls and one young man. “They turned everything upside down. Healthy foreheads began to threaten the guy. The elder said that this should not be done in his city, demanded to stop the campaigning and said that he was the night host of the city,” said Oleg Mitvol. He received an SMS message from an employee of the headquarters and called the police. Another employee managed to record what was happening on a voice recorder.
“In general, obstructing campaigning is a criminal matter. Our campaign was disrupted today, our headquarters was destroyed, we were unable to distribute newspapers on the last day,” said Oleg Mitvol. “We have a photograph of the man who led this group. The fact is that in Khimki there have already been attacks on our agitators. And last Saturday at the event, our agitators identified this man, he was one of those who beat the Tajik. And the dog was the same. This is clearly seen in the film “Term. Episode 1028,” added the mayoral candidate.
In addition, the local youth movement “Locals” complained about the beating of agitators. On Friday night, according to a representative of “Local”, eight young people, including those wearing masks, beat three agitators of the movement who were delivering leaflets to the entrances.
