How much garbage does a family produce per month?

Today at the Flacon design plant, activists from the recently opened Resource Saving Center made a trash display. It became the first exhibit of the future waste recycling museum.

For a whole month, an ordinary Moscow family collected solid household waste, and today it was solemnly sorted and placed into bins to draw attention to the problem of separate waste collection.

The organizer of the experiment, Alina Kolovska, before putting the garbage in the display case, says that food waste can be processed right at home - with the help of compost worms. They turn garbage into a nutrient substrate - vermicompost. What looks like a garden grill is actually a composter.

In a month, the average family produces about 500 liters of solid waste—that’s exactly what the display case can hold.

Participants in the experiment first washed the empty containers.

There are more and more non-recyclable juice and milk packaging (Tetra Pak) in every trash bin every day. The organizers said that it is always better to prefer glass for such containers - it can be easily recycled.

Cardboard cores in two sectors symbolize food waste - there is usually no more than 30% of it in the trash can.

Soon, the Resource Saving Center will open a waste collection point for those who want to collect garbage in a civilized manner, are not afraid of difficulties and do not want to replenish Moscow landfills and landfills.

They regularly try to draw attention to the problem of waste collection in Russia. And it is easy to guess that until this issue begins to be resolved at the state level, global changes in the principles of solid waste collection cannot be expected. However, this fact, of course, does not negate the effectiveness of the theory of small affairs.
