The turnover of the O'Key chain increased by a quarter

The O'Key group of companies increased revenue for the nine months of 2012 compared to the same period in 2011 by 26.3% to 81.07 billion rubles. At the same time, at the end of 2013, the company expects revenue growth to exceed 30%. Analysts say that the increase in revenue was due to the opening of new stores and an increase in retail space, and also call the reporting of the O'Key chain quite strong compared to the indicators of other retailers.

On Friday, the O'Key group of companies published unaudited operating results for the nine months of 2012. During this period, the chain's revenue grew by 26.3%, and comparable sales grew by 6.7%, thanks to an increase in the average check by 3.9% and the number of checks by 2.7%.

According to Interfax, on Friday during a telephone conference, O'Key executive director Sebastian Verag said that the chain's expected revenue growth in 2013 will exceed 30%. In addition, he confirmed the previous forecast for an increase in the retailer's revenue in 2012 by 25-30% and an increase in comparable sales of approximately 7%. Earlier, Magnit also gave a preliminary estimate of revenue growth for 2013, which could amount to 25-27%.

In 2012, O'Key planned to open 14 hypermarkets, but the plans were adjusted: 11 hypermarkets will be launched this year, the remaining three will open in the first quarter of 2013.

The network of the O'Key group of companies includes 77 stores, including 46 hypermarkets and 31 supermarkets. The total retail area is 379 thousand square meters. m. In the first quarter of 2013, the company intends to open its second store in Novosibirsk, where 5.8 thousand square meters were rented for these purposes in the Malinka shopping center. m. According to the director of the analytical department of Alpari, Alexander Razuvaev, in general, O'Key's results can be considered moderately positive.

“The company did not demonstrate any sensational growth in indicators, but at the same time, the dynamics were positive, and the results almost completely coincided with management’s forecasts, which indicates the good quality of corporate governance,” he emphasized. “In general, we believe that this year the situation was quite favorable for retailers."

IFC Solid analyst Elena Yushkova says that the increase in O'Key's revenue was due to the opening of new stores and an increase in retail space. "Like-for-like sales growth was 6.7%, which is a very good indicator. In general, O'Key's reporting for the nine months of 2012 can be called quite strong, especially when compared with data for one of its closest competitors - X5. X5 revenue over the past three months grew by 10.4 percent, to 115.9 billion rubles, comparable sales grew by 2.6 percent. The strongest result was shown by Magnit, increasing revenue for the nine months of 2012 by 33 percent, to 319. 3 billion rubles, compared to the same period a year earlier.
