In the Stavropol in schools, scarves were allowed instead of hijabs

The administration of schools in the Stavropol Territory allowed the Muslim girls to put on a braid instead of hijabs, Interfax reports with reference to the director of school No. 12 of the village of Kara-Tube, Neftekumsky district, Marina Savchenko.

According to her, the parents and the school administration came to a compromise decision on Wednesday, but the next day it was fulfilled to the end. One girl put on a scarf, the remaining four students "came wrapped in huge shawls."

Recall that earlier the parents of five schoolgirls complained to the mufti of the Stavropol Territory, who were not allowed to class because of wearing a hijab. According to the director, only secular clothing is acceptable in the classroom. Schoolgirls were not allowed to school for two weeks until Mufti turned to the governor. The conflict reached the highest echelons of power. On Thursday, October 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about this. He recalled that Russia is a secular state, but the feelings of believers should be respected. At the same time, Putin proposed introducing a single form in schools in order not to offend anyone.

Hijab is a traditional Muslim women's scarf.
