The investigative authorities of the Russian Federation achieved the arrest of the property of the former head of the Bank of Moscow Andrei Borodin in the amount of more than $400 million, according to the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

These funds are placed in accounts in foreign banks, including Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg. The banker's other assets were also seized, including real estate: land plots, unfinished construction projects, cars.

In addition, approximately eight million shares of Bank of Moscow OJSC belonging to Borodin were arrested. According to investigators, Borodin owns these shares indirectly, through a company controlled by him, Plenium Invest LTD, registered in the British Virgin Islands. The investigation also received a court decision to seize Borodin’s property in Latvia, where he owns two apartments and a plot of land.

The same measures were taken against the former deputy head of the Bank of Moscow, Dmitry Akulinin , who, together with his former boss, is accused by Russian authorities of embezzling funds and withdrawing them abroad. Like Borodin, Akulinin is hiding from the investigation. In November 2011, he was put on the international wanted list.

The investigation claims that the seizure of assets is being carried out in order to compensate for the damage that Borodin caused through his illegal actions.

In 2010-2011, several criminal cases were initiated against Borodin and Akulinin, including the fact that the Bank of Moscow, which managed public funds, issued a loan in the amount of 12.76 billion rubles to Premier Estate CJSC. According to investigators, this loan was not secured by collateral and after some time ended up in the personal account of Elena Baturina .
