Peskov about the Doing Business rating: it's like dancing tango

Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov was glad to improve Russia's position in the Doing Business rating , but called for restraints to its indicators.

“Of course, I would like a higher rate of promotion in the ranking, but there are a lot of elements, and the improvement of the business climate in the country is a kind of dancing tango, in which two partners participate: the state and business. Business should also make efforts,” Peskov told Interfax .

He called the advance of Russia in Doing Business as a positive factor, but added that there are “restraints” to the indicators of this rating, like others, ”“ There, of course, there are great tolerances and a large element of subjectivity, both in situations where the ratings are reduced to us in different areas, and when they increase. ”

At the same time, he is sure that, if you abstract from the indicators of the Doing Business, in general, the situation with the conditions of doing business in Russia is improving.

According to the World Bank and International Financial Corporation (IFC) Doing Business 2013 ”, reflecting the conditions for doing business in the country, Russia, having passed six steps, rose to 112th place.

The Doing Business report is published for the tenth time. The authors of the study raised 185 countries according to 10 criteria for regulating entrepreneurial activity: time and cash costs for creating a new business, obtaining building permits, access to electric power infrastructure, registration of property rights, obtaining loans, protecting investors, paying taxes, exercising international trade, ensuring the execution of contracts, bankruptcy proceedings.
